Trust Secures “First Steps” Funding Notts County Supporters Trust has been selected to spearhead a project to build greater community involvement between Supporters Trusts and their local communities. Through this initiative there will also be an opportunity For Notts County Supporters Trust to deliver an educational project in the Meadows area of Nottingham in partnership with local people. This “First Steps” project will increase understanding of the process of trusts consulting with communities, the capacity of supporters' trusts to deliver community activities and produce a range of suitable community projects for trusts to manage. Notts County Supporters Trust is one of only four Trusts to be selected to pilot this initiative – the other Trusts coming from Bradford City, Burnley and Swinton Rugby League Football Club. The Cooperative Group’s Cooperative Fund has funded the £12,500 costs of the project. The project aims to develop a model for first step community activities for supporters' trusts with project management by the Federation of Stadium Communities (FSC). Trust Chair Stu Rolley says: “It’s great news that the funding for this project has been secured and that Notts County Supporters Trust have been chosen to help take this exciting initiative forward. It gives us a great opportunity to work with the Meadows community on a project that will benefit local people who live and work in the vicinity of Notts County Football Club. We hope that, through this and other projects, we can continue to build our aspirations to reach out to the local community through football”.
