Newsletter 4NOTTS COUNTY SUPPORTERS TRUSTNEWSLETTERNo.4 – 28 March 2003We Need Your HelpWelcome to the fourth newsletter, one that contains an important message. We have said from the start that the Supporters Trust has only one overriding aim, namely to work with whoever we need to, to ensure the long term survival of our football club. Now you can play an important part in this by attending our Launch Night and joining the Supporters Trust. TRUST LAUNCH NIGHTFriday 4th April 7.30pmOriental Suite, Meadow LaneAdmission FreeJoining The TrustAt the Launch Night you will be given the first chance to sign up for the trust alongside a number of celebrities. Membership will be just £10 a year (£5 for adults aged over 65). There will also be Junior Membership available for under 16’s at £5 a year, which enables you to join in most Trust activities but for legal reasons not to vote in any elections. Incidentally these rates are amongst the lowest of any trust in the country. If you can’t attend the Trust Launch don’t worry forms will be available, amongst other places, at the next home game, on the Internet and in the next edition of “The Pie”. We will also email forms to those fans who have given us an email address. Current Situation At The ClubThe current situation remains a difficult one despite recent speculation in the local media. Although there are attempts being made to find a solution, notably and publicly led by Doug Ward and John Armstrong-Holmes there has not been a satisfactory offer made to the administrator at the time of writing. The level of debt at the club is very high and it is an immensely difficult situation to resolve. The role of the Supporters Trust in these developments is vital. We have been in contact with several of the key people involved and are seeking meetings with the others. Our role is to ensure that our football club survives. It is crucial that we obtain representation within whatever form of organisation emerges and this can only be done by having a substantial membership and regular contact. Huddersfield SituationFootball finances almost everywhere are in a perilous state as shown by our visitors Huddersfield Town, who like us are in desperate financial straits. They too have debts of £6m, are likely to enter administration on Monday but like us their club community is trying to assist their survival through the formation of a supporters trust. We wish them well (off the field at least!). The clubs that survive these turbulent times will be those that have a committed, loyal and determined supporter base. It is no longer a situation where something will turn up because time is running out. Notts fans have a history of digging deep, remaining loyal and refusing to accept a difficult situation and it is vital that these come to the fore again. Want to help? Then join the Trust
